I used to work around imagery at SAC HQ for the Air Force.  The images were
1GB each.  Even the demo versions open to the public would enable you to
discern the difference between a sedan and a pickup from space, through our
hazy atmosphere.  The pictures we get to see from Mars are being distorted
for our viewing pleasure.
