In general, HP has moved a long ways AWAY from the parts availablility
structure that they used to have. I don't understand why. If, in this
case, they charged $50 for the sensor, they couldn't help but make money on
what might cost them $5. There is a general lack of attention to the
servicability of a lot of new equipment. In cases like this, just don't use
HP service and use a company that sources parts from somewhere else other
than HP. Even paying $100 for a used sensor cannibalized off of a used
stacker would be better than HP's default 'buy a new one' appproach.
