From the MS ftp clients:
binary
quote TYPE L 8.
to set binary on the client and byte-stream on the 3000. This combination
has worked for us to upload ZIP files to a SAMBA share, and be able to open
them from the client side.

1. If you are ftp'ing from a PC to a HP3000 make sure you are using "byte"
or "tenex" mode for the transfer. Most ftp software support this (in DOS
mode it's "type tenex" on the command line, then "put ...").
