Hi Bonnie
While I don't know if this is recommended or not, I have done this to both
of our HP3000s.
(1) I made sure that I knew what I was doing by setting up another LDEV as a
network printer using SYSGEN & NPCONFIG, as described in "Native Mode
Spooler Reference Manual".
(2) When I was happy that it worked, I modified LDEV 6 in a similar manner.
(3) My script for shutting down network services includes the command
"SPOOLER DEV=LP ;STOP;OPENQ". When NS is started, "SPOOLER DEV=LP;START".
