i am having a problem with what posix is reporting as the number of bytes
in the file. this is causing a problem with samba but the problem is with
posix.
A listfile of the file reports this
PATH= /WARDS/ARCL/deliveries/loctest/
CODE ------------LOGICAL RECORD----------- ----SPACE---- FILENAME
SIZE TYP EOF LIMIT R/B SECTORS #X MX
444B FA 91 5000000 9 6144 1 32 rte344.txt
the number of bytes should be 91 * 444 or 40404 bytes
an ls listing in the shell reports this
--> ls -l
-rwxrwx--- 1 MGR.WARDS WARDS 43732 Jul 6 15:04 rte344.txt
i run tobyte on the file and i get a file with 40404 bytes.
--> ls -l
-rwxrwx--- 1 MGR.WARDS WARDS 43732 Jul 6 15:04 rte344.txt
-rw-rw---- 1 MGR.WARDS WARDS 40404 Jul 6 15:06 rte3442b.txt
PATH= /WARDS/ARCL/deliveries/loctest/
CODE ------------LOGICAL RECORD----------- ----SPACE---- FILENAME
SIZE TYP EOF LIMIT R/B SECTORS #X MX
444B FA 91 5000000 9 6144 1 32 rte344.txt
1B BA 40404 2147483647 1 160 1 * rte3442b.txt
i know that the file size may be less then eof times record length.
but what would cause it to report a file size greater then this calculation?
(since this is a posix question I thought I should use lower case letters)
thanks
