From inside the garage....

Short version : we are checking into it.

Long version : The HP3000 connection to transfer Predictive information
function is currently only used inside of the "HP" network. Our lab is
working on the testing of this function on a subnet outside of our network.
We are making no promises at this point, the program was not written to
function outside of the HP network, and does a combination of direct IP and
DNS to connect to the Response Center version of Predictive. Another factor
pushing this method of connection is the HP/Agilent spin-off, since all of
those machines will then be outside the HP network.

My lab contact will be in town the week of 4/7 and this is one of the things
we will be going over. At this point I can't make a commitment to
releasing this outside of HP's network, it needs to work first, but there
are a lot of people working to see IF it can work. We have structured our
systems and firewalls to support this if it becomes available and should
know in the next few months. We may be looking for some sites to Beta test
this, so I may be asking for sites who want to try in the future.
