If you ever post to the HP3000-L and get back some "weird" message making
some reference to your posting and it ISN'T from [log in to unmask],
then what you're seeing is someone else's broken or misconfigured mail
gateway. In the case below, the mailer at tosco seems to be having trouble
delivering mail to "clpoisal". Either someone subscribed under that address
and has since moved on, or there's a local config problem in their gateway.
In either case, it's not all that uncommon.

This DOESN'T mean your posting didn't make it to the list; if that was the
case you'd get a notice from [log in to unmask] You can also set REPRO
or ACK settings on your hp3000-l subscription so you'll get a copy or at
least an acknowledgement from raven that your posting was delivered. At any
given point, there's usually several hundred members on hp3000-l that each
get mailed a copy of your posting; once in a while one or two of those sites
are likely to experience a "glitch".

If you get a "weird message" like below, you can notify the postmaster at
the site it came from - no need posting it to the list - most of the other
listeners won't know what you're talking about (unless they've also posted
recently), and the only ones that could fix the problem are either the local
postmaster, or Jeff Kell (by removing the address having problems from the
hp3000-l list entirely). In any case, the local postmaster should be notified
first to give them a chance to fix things.
