Subject: HP 9000 K100 for SALE!

>Hmmmmmm. I'm not a lawyer, but it seems to me that most software is
>"licensed" not "sold", and as such, usually has a clause in the
>license about not re-selling the software (only makes sense since
>you don't own it). So, I would be very careful about buying or
>selling software like this in the business environment.

Just as a point of reference, basically, software licenses usually can be
transferred with the machine, or kept for a new system - unless the license
itself expressly forbids transfer. In this case, it looks like the licenses
go with the system, which means that the original licensee may not use them
on any new system they may purchase. The purchaser of the system would have
full rights (but should let the vendor know about it, so they may receive
support).

(Hey, MPE even gets transferred when a 3000 is sold, but not the support -
the new owner must purchase support if they wish to have it)

Regards,
Joe
