Thanks to everyone that gave me their ideas on this.
It turned out that the solution was an easy one. HP's EDIT/3000 editor can
handle this simply enough by using the following commands
C '13 to " " in all
C '10 to " " in all
The apostrophe followed by the decimal numeric equivalent of the ASCII
character can be used in EDITOR to get the change done.. This is documented
in the by EDITOR manual at the botoom of page 3-5 in case you want to look
at it.
It only goes to show that even after working with HP systems for almost 20
years there are things still to be discovered. :->>
