We would like to directly print double-type Simplified Chinese characters
(based on Reflection’s GB Chinese coding) from a HP3000 to standard
LaserJet printers.
Answers to any of these questions would help.
1. HP made a DIMM for Simplified Chinese (C4293A). Does anyone know
of a USA supplier that still has any of the DIMMs?
2. Does anyone know there I can get a downloadable soft font (.SPF
file) for a Simplified Chinese font?
3. Does anyone know of a product that will convert a double-byte true
type (TTF) to downloadable soft fonts (.SPF files)?
4. It looks like a true type file can be downloaded to at least some
of the LaserJet printers (Jet Admin. and the font list of the printer shows
the font), but I do not how to call for font (no font IDs are listed and no
information on symbol sets or typeface is listed). Does anyone know if:
a.) a true type font can be downloaded and used in LaserJet printer(in this
case a 8100DN)?; b.) if yes, are symbol sets and typeface assigned to
these true type fonts?; c.) if yes, how can I find out what symbol set
and typeface that are assign to true type font (like Simhei)?
5. An Interex article by Raghuram Bharathan said that HP was in the
process of getting a version of nloo to work on the HP3000. Does anyone
know if: a.) this project was completed?; b.) if yes, was Simplified
Chinese (GB) included?: c.) if yes, was a way found to tie it to the
spooler system for direct printing to a printer?
6. Does anyone know of another way to print double-type characters
(like Simplified Chinese) directly from the HP3000?
