I can answer #1. It depends on the model. If you have a 2563A, you merely
set the poer-up default pitch to 16.7 viz the config menu in the keypad.
Using the 2563B you simply specify a different (I can't recall the code
number but its in the manual) character set as the default. Most of our
branchs that have serial 2563's use the narrow "letter" style paper with
great success.
