You do not give much info, but I shall take a stab at it.
 
1) Can you PING the server, by name from your PC?
 
2) If yes, make sure you are using Winsock in the ODBC API setup.
    If no, check for the existance of the HOSTS file on the PC, in the same
directory as your TCP/IP stack.
 
3) Post the results here, we will try more things.  Diagnosing this is
somewhat complex.
