Addendum to Keven,

Once you've identified the bad memory card, pull out the bad pair.

Because the HP3000 will still run on less memory until you order a new 
pair of cards.

You may also have to rearrange the memory because it likes the memory in 
a certain order of slots.

Typical rule of thumb is the biggest pair should go closer to slot 
zero.  (In case you have different sizes.)

I also recall you can overfill beyond published the memory spec if 
desired.  (Or was that the 9x7?)
