John,

This is not hard to do. In fact, you could use the SendMail utility on the
e3000, point it at an SMTP server (email post office), provide it the "To:"
and "From:" address and accomplish this very thing. I've it from the 3000
when I worked at a Fulfillment House. The outbound email acknowledgements
for orders needed to have a specific "reply-to" address in case customers
wanted to ask Customer Service a question and frequently that address was
even in a different domain.

Thanx,
        Jon

Subject: [HP3000-L] OT - new SPAM technique...how's it done?

Below is a copy of an email I received this morning, and I did not send it
to myself. Note how it was sent by me to me. I haven't altered it a
bit...there are no other identifying marks. Does anybody have any idea
what has happened?

John Lee
