Hi there,

I'm just taking a stab in the dark here but ...

IF
        ("you installed your new Perl mods from CPAN" AND "CPAN re-installed Perl
        for you")
THEN
        "Perl has most likely lost its mods (marbles?) because of the re-install"

Seriously, this happened to me and I ended up having to recompile
Apache/mod_perl. I think it was at least half my fault for not answering
questions properly during the Perl upgrade.
