That's the Chamber of Commerce "just another day in paradise" version.  ;-)
I'll spare you the details of the dark underbelly of our own Superfund toxic
waste dump, chronic beach pollution (in certain areas), and recurrent city hall
scandals.

But one downside of "Surf City" that you may have heard about is that we are
locked in a battle with Jeff Vance's Santa Cruz over the rights to the "Surf
City" name:

It must have been a slow news day when that aired.  But today's LA Times writes
about a Bay Area state senator who has introduced a formal resolution to
designate Santa Cruz as Surf City.  So the battle of the two Surf Cities
continues.  ;-)
