Just because the total entropy of the universe probably has to
increase doesn't mean that it can't be decreased locally.  As
Hawking points out in one of his books, while reading the book
you have decreased the entropy in your mind by learning all these
new things, but your body has more than compensated by giving off
a lot of heat at the same time.
