We are on MPE/ix 5.5 PP7.  Should the creation date on an
existing permanent file change when modifying a file using
EDITOR.PUB.SYS?  For example, I had an old file with a
creation and modification date of June 1, 1996.  After I
edited the file, I expected to see the modification date
change to today's date and the creation date to remain June
1, 1996.  But the creation date also changed to today's
date.  What am I missing?  Please send responses directly to
