Wait a minute Gilles, "Comic relief?"  This was meant to be serious :-> .
 I was pointing out that it is very difficult to get reliable benchmarks
when dealing with two different platforms, even when some of the same tools
are available on both platforms.  You can even have two organizations do
the same tests and come up with different results.

If we can't even get performance comparisons using the same single-user
programs on two different platforms, I suspect we will continue to have
challenges comparing large, multi-user computers.

Of course, taking potshots at Apple is always in order.  I have been
virtually Windows 95/98-free for 8+ months, I am going to take potshots at
that environment also.

This thread is certainly more relevant to this list than something like,
oh. . . say. . . shaving!  Unless your razor has an Operating System.
 (What happens if you have a system failure whilst shaving?  Do you cut off
your nose to spite your face?)

With all due respect to Shawn, I beg to differ.

I rather enjoy the banter between Bruce and Denys on the PC/MAC threads.

I believe it's relavent to the list and certainly contributes to its comic
relief.
