As I've said on previous occasions, I have no problem with people placing
items on this list regardless of their political/cultural persuasion -
diversity and all that. However speaking personally, I do find it incredibly
hard to understand how anybody can greet such news with any sort of
enthusiasm.

        I say it's a big difference.  In an office setting, we can pretty
much
        know who hears what.  On this list, we have to be aware that it is
        global - and not everyone has the same policital or cultural
leanings
        that we have.  To post a message of this sort, albeit was a "news
item",
        is to do a disservice to those who may read the list who would be
        troubled by such news.  Not everyone in the world greeted the news
with
        enthusiasm.

        [Yes - I realize that Bill's original post was simply informational,
but
        I think we have to be considerate of possible reactions to such
news.]
