We've been having trouble with the console on one of our 937 ever since the
MFIO board was replaced last week on a different problem. The console
appeared hung yet would respond to a control B. Several ABORTIO 20's would
eventually come back with none to abort but the console still would not
respond. Shutdown the system once in an attempt to clear the problem, and
after some difficulty rebooting, it ran again for about a day, then same
problem.

HP is coming back today to try another MFIO board, they suspect the console
session is switching it's speed all by itself for no good reason, but while
I'm waiting I noticed a difference in the way the console is set up in
SYSGEN on this machine versus the console on our other 937. The ID on the
problem machine is A1703-60003-CONSOLE-TERMINAL and the ID on the OK machine
is HPC1001G. I haven't changed this from what is was all along (before the
problem we are now having) but I can't help but wonder if they should both
be the same, or, maybe they are essentially the same, different in name
only.

Just wondering at this point,
Bob Comeau
