Joe,
I have at least 3 clients running older HP3000 technology (979,989's),
that are
using a VA7100, VA7400 and an XP512.
HP's supported solution is done using the A5814A fiber scsi routers
(list price
$7200). I would recommend 8 of them, also required is a Brocade switch.
Total
cost ?56k? just for the equipment to talk to the high speed raid arrays.
** Plug alert **
I have a solution that technically superior for less that half the
price.
It is a router that has 2 fiber ports and 8 HVD scsi ports. It runs as
fast or
faster than the backplane on the HP3000. The customers experience a
overall
total drop in milliseconds per I/O service time, plus an increase in
overall
I/O.
The product was recently featured in the HP3000 News wire (January
edition).
:-)
