A couple of comments:
1. If you were to track history you would probably discover
that Winston was added to the transition team *after* CSY
had already made the hard decision WRT the HP e3000. They
made the decision prior to 11/14/01 :-)
2. I would imagine being on this team is a wonderful chance
to participate in a once-in-a-career event that most of
us would probably consider a lot of work but worth the
effort.
3. You are forgetting HP's organizational structure and how
autonomous divisions can be.
4. I heard *rumor* of the transition team not knowing about
the decision on the HP e3000 until a little prior to the
11/14/01 date. I also understand, again as *rumor*, that
the transition team was *not* pleased by the timing due to
the fact that some would try to infer a connection that never
existed.
5. A number of people on this list have personal history with
Winston (through various positions, me included) and I
would submit they (and me) find Winston above reproach in the
area of integrity. And would find it laughable that anything
devious has been manufactured by him WRT the HP e3000 EOL
announcement.
IMHO, its a total waste of time to be barking up this tree.
