This doesn't sound right; Quantum specifically states that the DLT7000
is fully read/write compatible with all earlier products. I think HP's
"IMPORTANT" note should be qualified: "...DLT4000 drives are not
capable of reading tapes created on DLT7000s" AND written at the 35GB
density. DLT7000s can be set to write in DLT4000 format, just as
DLT4000s can be set to write in DLT2000 format.
