Way back when.....
we had 2 systems, a production box, and a report/development box.

We wrote a program "LGCOPY" that would copy the "live" logfile across a
DSLINE
to the other system, pausing 60 seconds when EOF was reached before
attempting
to continue copying as the EOF increased via the log process.

Basically it was a file mirroring scheme.
