        Please refer to the questions in the e-mail that I sent to you, as the
answers to those questions will be more helpful in the diagnosis of the
problem.

        As for Jon's question regarding the path of LDEV 1 in SYSGEN:
        It *could* be relevant later, but for now your problem centers around the
INSTALL (based upon the description in your first posting), not around
SYSGEN.  My understanding is that during an INSTALL, SYSGEN doesn't
play a role until later in the process.  The first step is the loading of system
files from tape to LDEV 1.  After that has completed, you would boot from
LDEV 1.  However in your case I suspect that you're trying to boot from the
primary path (LDEV 1), instead of the Alternate Path (usually LDEV 7).
Since you've apparently changed the SCSI address of LDEV 1 you'll need to
change the SCSI address on the new disc drive (LDEV 1) to 56.6 to match
the drive being replaced and more importantly the Primary Boot Path.
