HP3000 MPE 5.5 Express 7.
I think I've missed something in the last few OS revisions.

I have an Image database with logging enabled and want to give
a user read access only. It is sufficient that if they try to run a
program with write access, they are aborted with a nasty message.

I thought I could do this by restricting their capabilities to
ND,SF,IA,BA and withholding LG.

My understanding is that a user without LG can open the database with a
Mode 5 program, but abort when they run a program that opens in Mode 1.

This is not the case. I've created a user without LG that can successfully
open and modify data in a database with Logging enabled.

I'm sure I've done this in the past. What's going on.?

TIA, Bob.
