Well, this is a follow up to my story. Another user of this same vendor's
software has reported similar problems they have experienced repeatedly,
but cannot reproduce at will, including a case of a batch posting process
that generated a receipt and then lost a row of data later (after a
session balancing report was printed that showed this data) - so it isn't
a matter of the user interface being broken. They believe it happens
"when the system is slower than normal".
