Reminds me of the comment made by Alan Shepard sometime around his inaugural
launch. He was asked what he was thinking about during the launch. His
reply was, 'to think this thing was built by the cheapest contract'.

Make me wonder how many slide rules were involved?

*** I believe it was Alan Shepard. I won't be upset if I'm corrected. ***
*** the memory is not what it use to be. or maybe it the storage unit needs
an upgrade ;-)

Sorry about that. Possibly, you are too young :-)

POST and Kueffer & Essel (sp?) were the 2 major manufacturers of Slide Rules
in the 40's & 50's (prior to the HP50 ? - never could afford one of those at
$400 a pop! That was REAL Money back then. ).

There were slight differences between them which created infinite, heated
arguments between engineering students of the period. Somewhat akin to the
argument between Apple & IBM PC fans in the 80's (for a more recent
analogy).

I shall once again retire to my dinosaur's lair and rest. All this typing
tires a relic such as I.
