I have COBOL source that will force "soft" barcode printing on a 256x
without getting a bar-code card. I've seen it work on a 2563B (I'm not sure
about the 2563A).

It was given to me by the owner (who said he didn't mind if I gave it out).
I don't even use COBOL in my shop but when I read your message I also
remembered a statement made 6 or 7 years ago by the owner that he had code
that could do this. I got on the phone today and he let me download it.

Since it is over 900 lines I won't post it here and I'll send it plain text
to you directly. If anyone else would like a copy, just e-mail me.

Does anyone know what the part# is for the barcode firmware for
a 2563b printer?

Is it still orderable from HP? Maybe 3'rd party?

All clues welcome!
