Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to find out if there are any packages (software, hardware, or
combination of both) for the HP3000, er, HP e3000, that will do credit
card processing.

We have been asked to accept credit cards for student Registration fees,
housing room and board, and other student-related functions.

Ideally, the package would reside fully on the e3000 and handle all of
the verification functions -- ie. dialing the credit card clearinghouse,
verifying the card validity and credit limit, and returning an
authorization code back to the e3000 -- as well as store some data to
assist our controller with reconciling the bank statement at the end of
the month. Alternatively, a package for the e3000 that just handles the
modem verification and authorization code for the transaction would
suffice, as long as it allows us to capture the data -- we'll be able to
write the accounting portion. Least ideal, but probably still
acceptable, would be a package that resides on another box (Win / UX /
Linux) that can communicate with the e3000 either via ODBC or some other
protocol, as long as it allows the transaction to be originated from a
session on the e3000.

I searched the HP3000-L archives on Deja.com, and found a couple of
posts from last October -- one of them mentioned the Alleyn-Day LTD.
company. We're looking into that, but I thought I'd post the question
again and see if anything else comes up.

Thanks!
