I want to thank the numerous people who responded to my question about
DBUNLOAD. The suggestions were exactly what I needed to successfully run the
program.

Now that I have the DBUNLOAD tape (a ¼ inch streaming cartridge tape) I find
that it appears unreadable on a Unix (AIX) system. The ‘dd’ command returns
the error:

‘dd read error: media surface error’

The HP cartridge is labeled 67 MEG (620 ft) 3M ‘Iotamat Format’ DC600HC Data
Cartridge tape
The AIX cartridge is labeled 150 MEG (620 FT) 3M DC6150 Data Cartridge tape

Is there something incompatible with the HP cartridge format? The last time
I did a conversion of this nature the media was a 9-track tape and I could
read it on a Unix system with no problem.

If a conversion is required on the tape can anyone recommend a service
company to do it?

Thanks again,

Jim Haley
