We used Formation -- and always sent overlay data when printing documents.

One thing that was consistant was power outages during Utah construction 
season; ie Spring, Summer, and Fall.

When we had fantasia (lovely product,  lovely support staff),  we used to 
send all our macros, fonts and form overlays ahead of every document 
printing.

Pretty sure it was just a tick box in the fantasia configuration screens.

Slightly higher network traffic,  but you would have to be a geek to spot it 
!
