Or, as an old Tennessee joke goes, two hikers in the Smokies startle a large
grizzly bear.  One turns to run, and the other says "Why are you running?  A
grizzly can outrun a car!" to which the first replies "I don't have to outrun
the bear, I just have to get in front of YOU!"
