Eddie,

Believe it or not, this is not and uncommon problem.

You need to take the plastic cover off (the one that voids the warranty).   Get a large dumpster and find the end of tape.   Then once in the center of the dumpster, start pulling, it will take awhile but there really is an end to the tape.

This is a much better problem than the broken DAT tape (in the drive) I had recently.

Lots of recent fun with our backup drives.  I'm down to one last problem, I 
hope.  I had what appeared to be a tape cartridge stuck in the DLT drive.  It 
would not unload, nor would the rewind work.  So I found the answers to 
remove the physical drive and manually eject the cartridge.  Which is when I 
noticed that the tape was not in the cartridge, but still on the DLT reel.  Now 
I'm looking for info on how to remove all that tape.

All knowledgeable and/or amusing answers are welcome.
