Recently, at a customer site, I saw a Control Data memory board, 8k, about
1/4 sq. meter (or 2.5 sq. feet, if you like). Customer told me it dated back
to some time in the early 70s, he did not exactly remember when.

Another customer of mine has an HP 7905 disk. Not the full mechanism,
though, just the disk (or disc ?) medium. He complains he can't use it as a
dartboard because darts don't penetrate the surface. Seems these darts are
wildly outperformed by a standard R/W head : the disc (or disk ?) has a
biiiiig trace on its surface left by a landing head. I think the 7905 was
current at the time the first HP3000s were introduced, no need to tell when.
