<<The majortiy feedback I've gotten is to keep the price low. If
specialty products are needed they can be ordered at 52% off.>>

Realizing that I'm one of the ones who said "keep the buy-in low", and am
also one who suggested the "specialty product" category, and therefore am
at risk of sending an "I'm an idiot" message:

What about DCE? My impression is that nobody has it, which means that
nobody is buying it, so HP wouldn't be giving up anything by bundling it
with the 918DX. Obviously, as with absolutely every absolute statement,
"nobody" is an exaggeration, but I suspect not by much.

If HP included the complete DCE product set on the 918DX (not just the
RPC subsystem), we could build all sorts of interesting cross-system
stuff using it. Way-cool NT-to-MPE (or, OK, I'll say it,
Uni...Uni...sorry, I can't say it, but you know what I mean) software
based on RPC might help HP sell a few more DCE installations to paying
customers. Or sell a few more new boxes to people who want a DCE-capable
system that they don't have to baby-sit.
