There actually is good news in this.  When it first came up we were
speculating that the cartridge/printer checked the date.  If that were true,
there would be no work-around.  Apparently the printer doesn't know the date
and replies on Windows to tell it?  So how does that work under Linux, Unix,
MPE, etc?  Or perhaps these are only the dumb printers that are not usable
anywhere outside of Windows?
