Well, we have Netbase/SharePlex installed (but nor being used on this data
base), but I can't see where it would intercept DBFIND's.  We do have
Superdex TPI installed (but, again, not being used on this data base) which
would intercept DBFIND's (I suppose).  However, none of these products are
linked into "my" XL from where this program is being executed (the RUN
command is: RUN MMP000;XL="XL.PUB").

See above.  There is only one XL.  But, looking at the LINKEDIT listing:

Notice there are a lot of stubs.  And there is not one of these stubs
(except for the MMP006) that are user-defined.
