I am trying to install a device in XP pro.
The install process fails and on every reboot it finds the device and tells me the install process fails.
I figured there had to be a log somewhere, so I searched the Windows directory for a file with the word AES2810. Low and behold there was a file named Wdf01005Inst.log
What luck, I opened the log file and read these lines at the bottom. Check out the last line
0.297: 2009/02/23 11:06:31.531 (local)
0.297: c:\5bd827b9b9469b1ac9ee1536\update\update.exe (version 6.3.4.0)
0.297: Hotfix started with following command line: /quiet
0.297: In Function GetBuildType, line 1170, RegQueryValueEx failed with error 0x2
0.297: C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\wdf01000.sys is Present
0.297: FileVersion of C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\wdf01000.sys is Greater Than 1.5.5600.0
0.297: Condition Check for Line 1 of PreRequisite returned FALSE
0.297: ReadStringFromInf: UpdSpGetLineText failed: 0xe0000102
0.297: Wdf01005 Setup encountered an error: Setup cannot continue because one or more prerequisites required to install Wdf01005 failed. For More details check the Log File c:\windows\Wdf01005Inst.log
um, the file I was/is reading was Wdf01005Inst.log????
At least it did not say "alter source code and recompile", my favorite HP error correction.
