If you are sending to a 3000, the files are in the temporary domain until
the send finishes, so are pretty hard to monitor. Glance doesn't help much
with this, even for the sending session. If you are sending to another
platform, I have seen other OSs increase the file size as the file is sent,
albeit somewhat crudely.

One ftp command that was recently added to the 3000's ftp client is HASH,
which prints one hash mark for each KB sent. Not as helpful as a progress
meter or percentage, especially for large files, but it can in that sense
indicate that something is happening - our users prefer it over staring at a
blinking cursor.
