I don't think I'd want to disagree here. However, keep in mind that the
parameter passing in Berkeley Sockets is very much "C biased" and without
being able to use the C header files, it will probably not be convenient
to use from COBOL, Pascal or similar languages.
So you might find it more useful to write your core socket routines in C
and design the parameter passing in such a way that they can be called from
COBOL as well.
