        I agree with Joseph.  Most of the time, the OT threads of extremely
        interesting.  It is the OT threads, just as much as the on-topic
stuff,
        which gives 3000-L its unique flavor and make it one of my favorite
        lists.  There are ways for those who do not read the OT stuff to
avoid it -
        subscribe to the newsgroup, or get the list in digest mode.

        I do think that people should exercise restraint when they go OT,
        especially when the topic, such as gun rights, is of only parochial
        interest.  The list has in the past let people know that a thread
has gone
        on too long, and I think should continue to do so.
