You obviously have much better luck with the cab drivers you get at New
York airports than I do.  I now assume they don't speak English and
don't know how to get anywhere other than Manhattan.

I now always take a map with me and show them where I want to get to.

Interesting the analogy is rather like the programming one. If I wanted
something done in house, I might have to do nothing more than outline to
someone what I wanted and expect them to use their knowledge to complete
it. Rather like saying to a good taxi driver take me to....

However If I wanted it written out of house, I would certainly have to
spend a vast amount of effort specifying exactly what I wanted, and be
prepared to do a lot more checking of the results. Rather like taking a
cab at JFK....
