I've been playing with DLT drives. These were originally DEC OEM
drives although I now understand they have been sold to Quantum.
The specs are for 20gig per cartridge at 2:1 compression with a max
speed of 9gig per hour. Most of the applications I have tried have
been more along the lines of 6-7 gig an hour.
I hooked one of these to a 967, configured it as a DAT drive, and
was able to do turbostore and restore without any difficulties.
Reliability has been excellent.
I got mine from Oakland Resources (810) 799-3022 ask for Gordon or
Mike. I'm have no relation to these guys other than as a satisfied
customer.
Also, I've heard the next generation is out that holds twice as much
data and is slightly faster. Only downside seems to be the cartridges
are in the ~~$40 range.
