Thank you, Donna and Raghuram, and those who have responded off list. On
the chance that there will be some more replies, I will wait to compile
and post the results.
Just to clarify, I do recognize both upcoming changes and the
differences between inbound ftp (to the server) and outbound ftp (using
the client), as well as wrinkles such as allowing inbound ftp but not
inbound telnet, the reverse of what I am asking about, or that one can
run JINETD and still not allow inbound telnet, or that one can restrict
either to only certain users. I wanted to get a feel for how commonly
someone runs JINETD, but do nor or will not FTPMON. Put differently, if
someone allows users to telnet in, how many allow or do not allow users
to ftp in? Essentially, if it is 'very rare' as I assumed and Raghuram
wrote, how rare is it? Essentially, I need to get a reality check (but
if you cannot resist this as an invitation for wit, definitely send that
off list).
