Pete-
I believe that it DOES require an environment file, but one that has no
contents. Try creating an empty file and use it as your ENV file.

Subject: 2563 and Jetdirect
Hi,
am I correct in assuming a 2563 does not need an environment file to print
through a jetdirect box?
The printer is printing compressed and is not using an environment file. I
tried lp.hpenv.sys, which prints ok, but prints garbage at the beginning of
the print.
npconfig entries are:-
pjl_supported = false
jam_recovery = false
snmp_enabled = false
data_timeout = 30
It is a little difficult to diagnose, as the printer is off site, and the
person at the other end is not HP savvy
Any ideas
Thanks
Pete
