Keep in mind that UNIX does not really exist today. There are a
myriad of operating systems out there which are derived from UNIX
(HPUX, AIX, Linux, Ultrix, Irix, Solaris, SunOS, SCO UNIX, BSD UNIX,
OSF/1, Dynix, ATT UNIX, etc) but none of them are really "UNIX"
anymore. Every one of them has added a lot of features to it and
removed a few others.

If I had to say there was a real "UNIX", I guess it would be ATT's,
which is where most of the UNIXes are heading toward. (bye bye BSD)

Calling this new generation of UNIXes "butchered UNIX" implies that
they are a step backward from the original UNIX. I recommend that
you go look at the original UNIX versions and see if that is what
you really want. I suspect you'd be a very sorry camper. Of course,
even the new versions of UNIX make some people into sorry campers. :-)

Ditto.
