Yeh, but who's going to buy one? You can get a dual 1.26 GHz P4
server with better performance, more available software (even on
Linux), with hotswappable power supplies, fans, and disk from
Compaq for under $15,000. Fits in a 2U chassis, too, and I'll
bet your quad Itanic doesn't.

If you want a 64-bit platform, I'll bet I can cook up an Alpha based
system that'll toast your Itanic for not a whole lot more. But what
64-bit software are you going to run on a Linux box with 4G RAM?

Past tense. The people who are attracted by commodity prices for
commodity hardware aren't going to be interested in a boat anchor
running Linux. They're already using Pentium or AMD based boxes
that will toast it.
