Howdy,

Last May 1 I posted regarding a problem in which DDX "ate" a couple
of thousand records. A couple of other folks reported some
problems also however we decided to leave DDX turned on.

That was then. The other night we ran Adager to decrease the
size of a dataset from 29,000,000 to 26,500,000 (22,500,000 entries).
Well....I don't as of now really understand what occured (wasn't)
Adager's fault) but things got entangled with highwater marks and
DDX thereby destroying the pointers in the master dataset. We
came up yesterday an hour and a half late and then just sorta
crippled along through the day as the system had to be available
for labor entry/payroll. Last night we did a backup and launched an
Adager fix path job at 7:21 pm CDT. It is now 8:35 am CDT and
Adager is still truckin'. The 300 or so users are becoming surly.
I am beginning to fear for my safety.

The Adager people (and Stan) have done an outstanding job in
my opinion. For what it's worth.......as soon as the system becomes
available, whenever that will be, I'm going to disable #$$%@ DDX.
Forever. Period.
